2024 EPIC Writing Contest Rules Page
Please read the information below carefully before submitting
Writers of ALL levels are invited to enter!
Submission period: 8 a.m. February 1, 2024 through midnight on April 1, 2024.
Individual authors may submit a single work in only ONE of the categories below:
~ PROSE - (fiction, non-fiction, or memoir). Adults and Students in Grades 8-12
~ POETRY – Adults and Students in Grades 8-12

Please Note: contest judges, EPIC board members, committee members, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter this contest. Entries containing graphic sexuality, extreme violence or gratuitous offensive language will not be considered.

Our judges will evaluate your work with attention to organization, development, voice, and attention to the conventions and craft of writing.

- Entries may be submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx). No PDFs, please.
- All submissions must have the title and page number(s) in the top right corner of the page

Winners will be notified May 5 through 7, 2024. The Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 5 P.M. at Cafe Louvre in Edmonds, WA. At the ceremony, Award Recipients will be invited to read their winning submissions.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL winning entries may be published on the EPIC website and EPIC social media sites.

- Payments may be made through PayPal, which also accepts your credit card; or by check mailed to EPIC Writing Contest, PO Box 1622, Edmonds, Washington 98020
- Adult-EPIC Member: $10 (non-refundable)
- Adult-Non-Member: $15 (non-refundable)
- Students (grades 8 - 12): Free
PRIZES:
- First Place: Adults: (prose and poetry) $150.00 -- Students: (prose and poetry) $100.00
- Second Place: Adults:(prose and poetry) $50.00 -- Students: (prose and poetry) $50.00
